Charming
Well,
this is certainly welcome. According to a news report, "charm schools"
are becoming popular all across the fruited plain. Adults are apparently
flocking to these schools in droves, paying good money to learn good
manners. Costs range from about 500 bucks for a day of one-to-one instruction
to about $2,000 for groups of up to 50 people. Businesses are getting
in on the actsending their employees for lessons on how to dress,
carry themselves, present business cards, and shake hands properly.
Gloria Petersen, who teaches etiquette at corporate seminars in Chicago,
says that her business has doubled in the past three years. "People
are tired of being boorish," she says.
